Steeped in history, poised for the future
Organized in 1891, the Lexington Chapter, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution is the oldest DAR chapter in Kentucky. Since our earliest days, the Lexington Chapter has prided itself on quality community projects, excellence in genealogical research, and training our women to assume leadership roles at the chapter, state, and national levels.
Today’s Lexington Chapter boasts an active Conservation Committee that volunteers monthly at historic McConnell Springs, a Community Classroom project that reaches out to Fayette County’s William Wells Brown Elementary, a school comprised of mostly African American and Latino students. We participate in the Patriots of the American Revolution Essay Contest for high school students. Our members are regular volunteers at Duncan Tavern Historic Center, where they assist with events and meet with researchers at the John Fox Jr. Genealogical Library. We strongly support Honor Flight Kentucky, Wreaths Across America, and National-led projects such as the mask-making program during the COVID pandemic.
