Education
Lexington Daughters are proud to be the sponsor of the 2023 Kentucky State Winner of the Patriots of the American Revolution Essay Contest. Adeline Henninger, a junior at the Lexington Latin School, won first place at Kentucky State Conference and first place in the five-state division level.
The Lexington Chapter is the lead funder of an after-school reading program at William Wells Brown Elementary School, where 73 percent of the students are African American, 13 percent Latino, and 93 percent below the poverty level. Not only did the Lexington Chapter, NSDAR provide hundreds of dollars to purchase books for these children, but also donated school supplies, high-quality hand-made masks for children during COVID-19, and items to help the schools resume in-person learning. A DAR Good Citizen award is given every year to a student at Lafayette High School.
Patriotism
Lexington Daughters are a strong supporter of Wreaths Across America at Camp Nelson National Cemetery, Honor Flight Kentucky, and grave markings of Revolutionary War Patriots along with the National Society, Sons of the American Revolution
